Overview

Microneedling uses sterile, ultra-fine needles to create thousands of controlled micro-channels in the skin. The micro-injury triggers the body's natural healing response, including production of new collagen and elastin. Indications include fine lines, acne scars, enlarged pores, uneven texture, and pigmentation. Multiple sessions are typically required to see significant improvement. Microneedling can be combined with topical serums or with radiofrequency for deeper effects.

Who it's for

The right candidate.

Patients with fine lines, acne scars, enlarged pores, uneven texture, or pigmentation who want gradual improvement without significant downtime.

Technique

How it's done.

Sterile, ultra-fine needles create thousands of controlled micro-channels in the skin. The micro-injury triggers collagen and elastin production. Multiple sessions — typically three to six, spaced four to six weeks apart — are needed for significant improvement.

What to expect

From consultation to recovery.

Mild redness and pinpoint dots for one to three days. No social downtime in most cases. Cumulative results visible over three to six months.

FAQ

Common questions.

Does it hurt?

Topical anesthetic is used. Most patients describe the sensation as a mild stinging or vibrating feel.

How many sessions do I need?

Three to six for most indications. Scars and significant texture issues often need more.

Can it be combined with topicals?

Yes. Hyaluronic acid serums, growth factors, or PRP are often applied during or after treatment to enhance the result.

How is microneedling different from a chemical peel?

Microneedling creates mechanical micro-injury to trigger collagen production. Peels use chemicals to exfoliate and stimulate the skin. Different mechanisms, different downtime profiles. We pick the right tool for your skin and goal.

Can I do microneedling at home with a roller?

Home rollers use needles that are too short to produce real collagen change and carry infection risk. In-office microneedling uses sterile devices with appropriate depth and is what produces the results you actually want.

Will I need to take time off?

Most patients have a day or two of pink, irritated-looking skin similar to a mild sunburn. Many return to work the next day. Makeup can be applied 24 hours after treatment.
